Many college-bound teenagers have their hearts set on the same dream schools. These tend to be the same three or four dozen schools with impossibly high rejection rates that continually make these wish lists.
This list will allow parents to see that some or all of the schools that they are most excited about give little to no merit aid. High-income parents, for example, who can’t cover the cost of an elite research university in the Northeast that doesn’t give merit awards, will be able to see that many schools throughout the country would provide their children with merit scholarships.
Many parents worry that their children must be stellar students to receive scholarships from schools.
This widespread assumption has created a tremendous amount of pressure on students to be per- fect. This list illustrates quite dramatically that you don’t have to be an “A” student at most schools to receive help.
In reality, most students who attend public colleges and universities don’t pay full price thanks to federal and state grants, as well as institutional awards.
